Burt’s Bees Rosewater Toner
Purchased from Wegmans
Mostly on a whim, I was thinking about going back to Shiseido’s Pureness line but then read some info about witch hazel and rosewater as toners. Decided to give it a try. I didn’t have time to get to a health food shop to purchase plain ol’ rosewater so I saw this at the Wegmans I was at and gave it a try.
Rose Water — Luxuriously gentle, Rose Water is distilled from fresh flowers and the essential oil of roses. It’s a mild astringent with a truly beautiful aroma.
rosa damascena (rose) flower water, alcohol denat., glycerin, centaurea cyanus (cornflower) flower extract, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) leaf extract, yucca schidigera leaf extract
I wasn’t too fond of the alcohol presence to be honest. But it doesn’t burn/sting upon application. The other ingredients aren’t irritable on my skin either, so a bonus in that manner. It’s also not overly drying. Though my skin tends to be oily and acne-prone, this stuff works quite decently! Most other astringents/toners tend to overdry thus entering my skin in this crap-cycle of overproducing oil to compensate. VICIOUS.
It also doesn’t interact with my moisturizer so no secondary effects! My face just smells like a roses! Not to mention my evening moisturizer is KORRES Wild Rose 24-Hour Moisturizing & Brightening Cream. BAM! My face smells like a Valentine’s Day bouquet!
So overall, it’s a low/fairly priced item. The bottle isn’t huge but considering the amount you use, it should last for a while. The packaging is just a twist-cap bottle so if you’re inclined, you can also purchase a small spritzer and apply the product via mist instead of dabbing the stuff onto cotton rounds and wiping. It depends on your skin and preference. *I prefer the cotton method since you can remove any additional junk your cleanser may leave behind.
Would I recommend it: Sure! It really helps clean up what cleansers leave behind!
Pros: Cheap, all natural ingredients, mild
Cons: Strong rose scent (if you’re not into rose scents), bottle/packaging – must be used with cotton rounds or via spritzer bottle
